Can international applicants apply to the City Management Fellowship program?
Due to employment restrictions associated with the student visa, international applicants are usually not eligible to apply to the City Management Fellowship program (the Fellowship includes both part-time or full-time employment during both years of the program).
Is the GRE required for international applicants?
For Spring 2021 applications to the MPA program (November 1, 2020 application deadline), the GRE is optional. After the November 1, 2020 application deadline, the GRE for all MPA applicants is no longer required in the application.
Graduate Record Exam (GRE): General test only (verbal, analytical and quantitative). GMAT or LSAT may substitute for the GRE. Our institution code is 6871, and the department code is 4801.
Are TOEFL scores required for international applicants?
The University requires all applicants, international or domestic, to demonstrate English language proficiency for admission to any graduate program at KU. There are 3 ways to prove English proficiency:
- Declaration of native speaker status on the online application for graduate study.
- Graduation with a baccalaureate degree (or higher) earned in residence from an accredited English-medium U.S. college or university or a college or university in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, English-speaking province of Canada, or an English-speaking Caribbean country, with instruction conducted in English. Degrees earned online may not be used to verify English proficiency.
- Official scores from an English proficiency standardized test (e.g. ibTOEFL, IELTS-Academic, or PTE) sent by the testing agency to the University of Kansas. Official scores must be less than 2 years old.
